Conference Leaders Meeting;
A meeting
of Conference Leaders to agree together on the format of the Consultation and
ensure there is unity in the Spirit. The
meeting will also ensure that all leaders are aware of the logistics of the
week and where and when they will be participating in the Conference as far as
can be ascertained at that time.
A meeting
where the Options leaders are briefed on the logistics of the week and what
time and part they will have in the schedule. This meeting will also brief the
Options Leaders on the recording requirements of all sessions and how this will
mesh in with the development of the training program.
Registration:
Introductions, prayer and worship:
An
opportunity for everyone attending to introduce themselves and meet all the
other delegates. A time of worship and thankfulness to God for bring us
together. A time of prayer seeking God’s blessing on our relationships together
as a community of urban poor workers, and seeking His direction and will for
our week of story-telling and training.
Worship, Welcome and Story-telling:
Worship
together, then a welcome from our Thai hosts.
The opportunity for delegates to start telling their stories of God’s
wonderful grace working through His people among the urban poor. From these stories we hope to understand and
develop the theology underlying what the Spirit of God is doing among the
poor. All delegates have been asked to
bring with them a 5-7 minute-video presentation and/ or a 10 minute verbal
presentation of their story. Throughout the week, time will be given
opportunity for the presentation, prayer for each other and reflection on these
stories
Supper and planning:
An
opportunity for the Options Leaders and Consultation leaders to dialogue over
supper to ensure that planning for the next days meetings are considered
sensitively.
Devotional and story-telling:
During this
time someone will bring a 15 minute devotional encouragement for the day and
someone will lead us in worship through song and prayer. Story-telling will
continue.
Training: Goals and Methods:
Session 1:
This
session will outline the goals of the training sub-commission of the Ecarnacão Network and present where we are going as a
Network, what progress has been made thus far and what needs to be done to achieve
the goals of the Network. Discussion and
input from delegates will be invited. The idea of a “Best Practice Standard”
will be introduced and then all delegates will participate in small groups
researching the qualities, skills and attributes of Urban Poor Church Planters
and Leaders. The delegates will asked to
participate in groups applicable to their expertise and vital interest. The data collected from this research will be
collated into a training profile for an urban Poor Church Planter and Community
Leader. These profiles will be used for
validating the proposed training program.
Session 2:
This
session will continue the process outlined in session 1.
Story-telling:
Story-telling
will continue.

Introduction to Options:
An overview of the Options available and how these Options will be used
to facilitate the development of course material for the training program. The Training Manual and the persons involved
in training and their job profiles will be discussed. Delegates will have the
opportunity to comment on the process and then form into small groups to write
up job profiles for each role required in the training network.
The Training Goals and Methods:
Session 3:
A process
of matching the best practice profiles to the proposed training curriculum to
see whether the curriculum contains to all the training elements to develop the
trainees according to the best practice standard. This session is deliberately separated from
session 2 to give the coordinator time to collate the best practice profiles
into a schedule that delegates can use to match to the curriculum.
Land Rights Stories:
This is
part of the story-telling process where the people involved in land rights
issues have the opportunity to share their stories and for the delegates to
comment on emerging theologies related to these stories.

opportunity for the Options Leaders and Consultation leaders to dialogue over
supper to ensure that planning for the next days meetings are considered
sensitively.
A session
on how to capture training experiences, record stories, develop CD’s and notes
and resources in a way that will make it possible for a course to be developed.
Practical examples will be developed in the session.
Options – session 2:
A
continuing session on how to capture training experiences, record stories,
develop CD’s and notes and resources in a way that will make it possible for a
course to be developed. Practical examples will be developed in the session.
Options – session 3:
Options
where delegates can choose between the following;
i)
Land
Rights – exploring the deeper issues.
ii)
iii)
Specialists
in the Training Options will develop a faculty development plan
Free evening:
An evening
where delegates can rest, relate, or go shopping or site-seeing, or visit one
of the urban poor ministries in the city.
Optional as
some delegates may be off site.
Options – session 4:
Options
where delegates can choose between the following;
i) Land Rights – exploring the deeper issues.
ii)
iii) Specialists
in the Training Options will develop a faculty development plan
Options – session 5:
A session
on “healing the wounds” of ministry among the urban poor. Incarnation among those marginalized by
society and rejected by the upper classes costs us all the price of rejection.
How do we allow the Spirit to heal the wounds we have experienced?
Integration & Network Development:
Session 1:
The Conference leaders ask the question how can our experiences this
week be integrated into a process of networking that will build the work of
Church Planting amongst the Poor. All delegates will attend this session.
Integration & Network Development:
Session 2:
A session
on capacity building for the network – all delegates will attend. Everyone will
be asked to contribute to a process of reviewing the name, mission statement, objectives and core
values, and ongoing processes for the Ecarnacão Network. Firming up of core groups and
sub-commissions.
Supper and planning:
An
opportunity for the Options Leaders and Consultation leaders to dialogue over
supper to ensure that planning for the next days meetings are considered
sensitively.
Integration and Network development:
Session 3:
To be
worked out during the consultation.
Farewell, prayer, thanks and closing speeches:
The
consultation process ends.
Conference with the Thai Churches:
A unique
opportunity to meet with the Thai believers for a story-telling report back
from the consultation. This is a way to
encourage the Thai churches in their progressions in working with the urban
poor.
Supper and fellowship:
An
opportunity for the Options Leaders and Consultation leaders to enjoy
fellowship with Thai Christians over supper without having to be concerned
about the next days program.
Delegates speaking in Churches:
Our hosts
will try to arrange for some delegates to form ministry teams. The teams will
be allocated churches to attend so the
Feedback Needed by May 18th (So we
can revise the program).
